ATDps: April 2017 Chapter Meeting
Cultivating a Culture of Engagement and Accountability
Meliessa Ogrodowski, Director of Learning & Development at Craft Brew Alliance, will share how they are shifting their company culture to one of engagement and accountability using Cy Wakeman’s New York Times bestselling book and accompanying training program, Reality-Based Rules of the Workplace. With engagement levels at all-time lows and organizational efforts to improve employee engagement at all-time highs – it’s clear that something is not working. In this session, Meliessa will outline the unconventional and innovative concepts on which the Reality-Based Rules are based and will unveil the competencies and mind-shifting strategies they are teaching their workforce to realize greater levels of professional – and personal! – success and happiness. She will also share how their journey has evolved and what Craft Brew Alliance has learned about the keys to true culture change.
Participants will walk away with:
1. Clarity on the real drivers of employee engagement
2. Techniques that lead to healthy thinking for great results and more happiness
3. The crucial factors for driving successful culture change
This chapter meeting will focus on the Change Management and Performance Improvement pillars of ATD's overall competency model.
After more than 20 years working as HR Business Partner in a variety industries and companies, Meliessa’s career took an unexpected turn in 2014 when she was asked by current employer, Craft Brew Alliance (CBA), to build a Learning & Development function from scratch. Initial steps were focused on igniting a learning culture through inquiry, reflection and facilitated peer coaching. In 2015, CBA’s culture initiative evolved as top priority – to grow and develop a workforce that is nimble, driven and highly engaged in order to remain a leader in the very turbulent craft beer industry. Their experience is one that Meliessa now refers to as the professional equivalent to having a child – the most challenging and rewarding chapter in her career. CBA is enjoying significant positive business impacts from implementation of the Reality-Based programs and as a result, they continue to partner closely with Cy and her Reality-Based Leadership team.
