Seattle Networking Interest Group

Our Networking Interest Group meets virtually the first Thursday of every month for connection, conversation and conviviality! Whether you’re a current member or curious about becoming one, these structured gatherings are intentionally designed to help you:

Technology Special Interest Group - From Learning Designer to Learning Builder: Creating What’s Next with AI (May 28, 2026)

In this 1-hour virtual session, we will explore where learning professionals fit in this new landscape and how we can start creating practical solutions that build on what we already do best. Instead of only consuming new tools, we can design useful resources, experiences, and supports that make our work stronger, faster, and more relevant.

Together, we will look at how the role of L&D is evolving, what skills matter most right now, and how AI can help us create job aids, learning tools, performance support, prototypes, and other solutions that extend our impact. This session is designed for learning professionals who want to think bigger about their role and leave with ideas they can apply right away.

What participants will explore:

• How the role of the learning professional is shifting

• Where AI fits in the work of L&D today

• What it means to move from content creator to solution builder

• Practical examples of things learning professionals can create to support performance and learning

• Ideas to help you start building in your own work right away

Join us for a practical, real-world session with Tom Kuhlmann focused on how to use AI as a smart production partner across your workflow: drafting outlines, writing dialogue, generating question banks, creating feedback variations, and producing meaningful alt text.

We’ll also dig into the part that matters most: how to QA AI-assisted content so it stays accurate, inclusive, and unmistakably human, protecting learning quality while saving serious development time.

By the end of this session, you’ll be able to:

Identify the best places to use AI in an Articulate workflow (outline → script → questions → feedback → accessibility text)
Draft stronger prompts to generate usable course content faster—without “starting over”
Generate question banks and feedback variants that align to learning objectives and real performance needs
