President's Message | ||||||
One of my favorite interview questions is to ask someone to describe themselves, then to tell me why they chose the words they did. The responses tell me how people think about themselves, and how comfortable they are with creativity in the moment. It is also an opportunity for them to share their brand—the things they are known for. I’ve been thinking about our chapter, what is special about it, and what words I use to describe what I love about our chapter. Here are the words and descriptions I associate with ATD Puget Sound. Innovative: We’ve hosted a variety of programs with different methods to foster learning—from presentations and coaching to speed learning and design thinking. These programs bring forward a variety of innovative solutions to learning challenges. Curious: Our chapter members are hungry to learn from each other: what technologies they are experimenting with, what challenges they face, what solutions they are pursuing and what successes they have realized. Generous: Whether they are serving on the board, at an event, or contributing to a special project, our volunteers generously give their time and talent to serve the chapter. Collaborative: I can count on our board and our members to co-create solutions to better serve our members and engage our community. We collaborate to identify key trends facing our profession, and in fact your next opportunity to do that will be at our Leaders in Talent Development Event on August 17th. Reserve your space here. Committed: Our members demonstrate a keen focus on making a difference in the organizations they serve—whether they are working internally or as consultants. Reserve your place at the Workplace Learning Conference, on October 5th to learn about developing agility in individuals and organizations from an amazing group of speakers and facilitators. I also know that I’m only one voice. I’d love to hear from you. How would you describe ATD Puget Sound? Please take 3-5 minutes to share the top adjectives you use to describe our chapter in our Pulse Survey here. What will we do with them? We’re working on onboarding and promotional materials that represent ATDps to Talent Development professionals in Puget Sound. We want to be sure we capture our chapter brand and value from the most important people: our members. Please take a moment to share your thoughts. Engage, Connect, Learn!
