Leading Through Facilitation
Have you ever been to a meeting that could have been an email? While the average US worker spends about 10 hours per week in meetings, little attention is often paid to facilitation beyond making sure the meeting has an agenda and purpose. However, a well-facilitated meeting can result in greater clarity on next actions, decisions, and unblock work. In this session, we introduce a few meeting practices that enable more shared learning and ownership for the results of the meeting.

- Describe the importance of meetings in an organization's operating system.
- Understand the role of facilitation and meeting design in disrupting or reinforcing broader organizational patterns.
- Explore some of the common missteps in meetings.
- Practice a few meeting hacks to begin to disrupt common organizational patterns.

Valeria Lopez is the founder and CEO of OnBeat Consulting, a leadership coaching, strategy, and organizational design firm that works in English, Spanish, and Portuguese across the United States and Latin America. As an advisor, leadership coach, and facilitator, Valeria has worked across many industries, including healthcare, defense, financial services, philanthropy, and startups.
