Creating Effective Video Content with Little or No Budget

Are you just getting started using video in your learning and need help figuring out where to begin?  Or are you an experienced producer of video content looking for tips and tricks to give your videos that little extra something?  Either way - or if you’re somewhere in the middle - this interactive session with Amy Lou Abernethy and Bowie DeShazo of AMP Creative is for you!

Amy Lou and Bowie will explain both why and how to include video in your training, and discuss how technology empowers L&D professionals to make simple videos without a team and without fancy equipment. They’ll illustrate the value of visual storytelling, review the tools needed to create simple videos, and help you develop some basic phone video skills.

In just 90 minutes you’ll work with other ATD members to script, shoot, edit and deliver a video lesson using only your phone and InShot video editing software.  The session will wrap up with a screening and awards ceremony featuring your work!

Amy Lou Abernethy

President and Chief Learning Strategist, AMP Creative

Amy Lou Abernethy began her career as an educator but was soon drawn into the world of visual storytelling and video production. In addition to co-founding and nurturing AMP Creative, she followed her heart back to the art and science of adult learning a few years ago, getting her masters in learning in digital environments. Standing at the crossroads of learning innovation and cinematic storytelling, Amy Lou collaborates with companies to develop transformative learning experiences and AMP Creative produces those experiences. She looks for opportunities to connect with people through stories, across a variety of mediums, from printed infographics to immersive virtual reality.

Bowie DeShazo

Director of Innovation, AMP Creative

After studying production and new media at Rowan University, Bowie developed his skills as a director, producer, and storyteller. In his current role as Director of Innovation at AMP Creative, he leads emerging technology projects. Bowie works with clients to facilitate the creation of learning ecosystems through many different media, including VR, AR, interactive multimedia, custom app development, interactive signage and immersive video.
