ATDps: March 2021 Virtual Member Event

Making Virtual Training Engaging Again

EVENT DESCRIPTION

How do you move beyond the virtual PowerPoint presentation, awkward silence, and open Q&A with more awkward silence? So many of us have experienced this exact scenario and leave feeling unmotivated or disengaged. As Talent Development subject matter experts, you want to avoid this style of virtual training, but how? Join us this month to learn what’s working for others, engage in thoughtful activities, and gain insight into creating an engaging virtual training to ensure your audience is captivated and retains the information presented. Let’s make your next virtual training enthralling!

Our facilitators:

Brian Washburn has been designing and delivering virtual sessions for more than 15 years and has learned plenty of lessons about what works (and sometimes has learned the hard way about what doesn't work). He is the current Past-President of the ATD Puget Sound chapter and author of the upcoming book, What's Your Formula: Combine Learning Elements for Impactful Training, which will hit bookshelves (and Amazon) on June 29.

Bethany Kline works for Convoy as an Instructional Designer for Onboarding & Culture. Her role focuses on managing the onboarding experience for new employees. Her professional experience has focused on ESL, adult learning, curriculum development, training facilitation, and process improvement. Outside of work, she loves to bake and spend time outdoors.

Kevin Russell is an instructional designer at Blue Origin. His design and development style is informed by his background in video production and editing, stage theater, high school teaching, and tech support. His aim is to make every training as interactive as possible.

Kristen Pearson Kristen Pearson is a Product Manager for Professional Development at Virtuoso Travel and recently obtained her CPTD through the Association of Talent Development. She strives to design and develop learning opportunities that help people grow personally and professionally.
