In this interactive workshop series, you'll create a portfolio that effectively highlights your skills and achievements. Whether you’re updating an existing portfolio or starting from scratch, this workshop will provide insights and practical tips to help you stand out in your field.

We’ll cover the essentials of creating a career portfolio, from choosing a suitable format to effectively presenting your work.

Outcomes

In this 7-week, 4-part interactive workshop series, you'll create a portfolio that presents at least one current work sample that effectively highlights your relevant skills and achievements.

Where are you Starting From?

  • If you do not currently have a career portfolio, you will create a best draft of a shareable portfolio using Microsoft PowerPoint or Google Slides.
  • If you currently have a career portfolio, you will gain insights and practical tips to improve and update your portfolio and explore formats to present your portfolio.

You’ll receive peer feedback and guidance in every workshop, and by the end of the program, you'll have experience presenting your best draft.

What to Expect in Each Session:

Week 1: Collaborative Workshop #1 (10/7)

Select 1-3 current work samples to present in a portfolio related to your current and/or target job

Week 2: Collaborative Workshop #2 (10/14)

Compare examples of portfolios and draft write-ups for your work samples

Week 3: Individual work time and office hours

Create a first draft of your portfolio and attend an optional Office Hours session for work time or guidance

Week 4: Collaborative Workshop #3 (10/28)

Present your first draft, receive peer feedback, and create a plan to improve your first draft and write-ups

Weeks 5 and 6: Individual work time and 1:1 sessions with the facilitator

Implement your plans to improve your first draft, explore how you want to present your portfolio, and 1:1 check-ins with the facilitator for feedback

Week 7: Collaborative Workshop #4 (11/18)

Present the best draft of your portfolio and create a plan to improve your best draft for use in professional settings

Program Requirements

To make the most of this experience, all participants are asked to:

  • Attend all collaborative workshop sessions and complete the requested work in between (1-2 hours a week)
  • Actively participate in Slack discussions and program surveys
  • Reach out to the portfolio program team if challenges arise during the process

You’ll receive peer feedback and guidance in every session, and by the end of the workshop, you'll refine your portfolio and get it close to publishing.
