The ASTDps Innovation Group Presents a Conversation Café: “Are Telecommuting and Innovation Mutually Exclusive?”
(This is a structured event that follows a timetable, so please try to arrive in time for the start of the program.)
Hale’s Ales Brewery & Pub, 4301 Leary Way NW, Seattle, 98107
(Hale’s is not charging for this space, so we encourage you to show your thanks by purchasing something to drink and/or eat!)
In February, the CEO of Yahoo! abolished the telecommuting option for employees, the rationale being that Yahoo! needs to vigorously promote the face-to-face interaction that leads to creative collaboration and, ultimately, innovation as it does for rivals Google and Apple. HR experts, on the other hand, warn that the change will have negative consequences on employee morale and productivity without helping innovation. These perspectives provide much to discuss.
ASTD Puget Sound’s Innovation SIG is hosting a conversation café to do just that. We’ll pose the questions – those that address innovation, flexible work practices, encouraging the creative spark to develop game-changing products and services, and designing the workplace of the future – and you’ll provide the answers! Come and explore this current topic with your peers in a dynamic and lively format. It’s sure to be a fascinating and thought-provoking session!
