POSITION SUMMARY:

The Worldwide Field Enablement team is looking for a Sr Technical Training Developer who is passionate about technology and wants to help increase the effectiveness of F5’s technical sales force. This position reports directly to the Manager, Curriculum Design and Delivery.

This role has two core responsibilities. For part of the year, you will manage the implementation of F5’s Systems Engineer Specialist Events, twice yearly training events covering Security, Cloud, Core, and Service Provider specialist focus areas. For the remainder of the year, you will use your knowledge of F5 solutions and alliance technologies to design, develop, deliver, and maintain a technical enablement curriculum and other enablement resources focusing on F5’s core products (LTM and GTM).

Content will be delivered through varying mediums, including instructor-led classes, e-learning, self-study courses, role-plays, hands-on labs, etc. Success requires alignment and collaboration with subject matter experts within the SE organization, product management and marketing.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Responsible for upholding F5’s Business Code of Ethics and for promptly reporting violations of the Code or other company policies
· Technical event management (50%)
o Manage the content development for Systems Engineer Specialist Events by:
- Working with the Global Solution Architect team and company subject matter experts to plan and execute event sessions and hands-on labs
- Serve as the virtual lab expert for session developers
- Measuring the success of the events and developing plans for continuous improvement
· Training design and development (30%)
o Design and develop new technical product training courses
o Setup, configure, and maintain virtual lab environments
o Work with subject matter experts to validate course design and content
o Storyboard video and animation projects, and write scripts
o Develop, produce, shoot, and edit video and audio projects, both in studio and on location
o Develop animated whiteboard videos
o Manage online media distribution through Jive and other platforms
o Increasing the field’s productivity in a tangible and measureable way by defining role-based competencies and metrics that measure the effectiveness of training
· Develop a virtual lab strategy for hands-on lab exercises across delivery mediums (10%)
· Training delivery (10%)
o Deliver classroom and virtual training to F5’s direct and indirect (Partner) technical sales force (pre-sales SEs, technical account managers, consultants, etc.)

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

· Training design, development and delivery
o Experience creating technical training plans, content, tests, and practical hands-on lab activities
o Experience with the setup and configuration of virtual lab environments using VMware or related technologies
o Proficient in course-authoring tools (both technology-based and instructor-led training), including PowerPoint, Articulate Presenter or Storyline, and Captivate
· Technology
o F5 “Application Delivery Fundamentals” Certification, or equivalent knowledge of:
- TCP/IP
- Basic networking (routers, etc.)
- Protocols and technologies specific to each layer in the OSI model
- Basic load balancing concepts
- Internet security models
- Cryptographic services
- Authentication
- IPsec and SSL VPN
- DNS
o Familiarity with the following technologies is a plus:
- F5 product experience with F5’s core products (LTM and GTM) and/or relevant experience in key competitors
- Microsoft operating systems and technologies
- Virtualization technologies
- Firewall/IPS/IDS, SSO, AAA
- Acceleration technologies
· Other desired skills and experience:
o Strong organizational and follow through skills
o Excellent decision making, analytical and problem solving skills
o Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
o Strong team player
o Track record of cross functional collaboration
o Track record of analyzing audience needs and tying them to business requirements
o The confidence and presence to interface with management and field personnel
o Demonstrated success managing complex projects from start to finish, working effectively across internal functional teams and external vendor relationships

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Bachelors in engineering or computer science, or equivalent work experience
· 5+ years of instructional design and/or content development experience with a technology company
· 2+ years of classroom delivery experience with a technology company
· 3+ years working with network, security and/or web technologies

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Duties are performed in a normal office environment while sitting at a desk or computer table.
- Duties require the ability to utilize a computer, communicate over the telephone, and read printed material.
- Duties may require being on call periodically and working outside normal working hours (evenings and weekends).
- Duties may require the ability to travel via automobile or airplane, approximately 10% of the time spent traveling.
